Why is exercise different for women?
Aug 07, 2025
I USED TO EXERCISE LIKE A MAN
Used to get up every day
And push myself to move
Bikram yoga
Barre cardio workouts
Running
Almost every morning before work
SOME DAYS I HAD THE ENERGY AND DRIVE
Other days I didn’t
But I pushed myself anyway
Getting up super early
Rushing to a class or to go for a run
Rushing to get changed
Then rushing off to work
WHAT I DIDN'T REALISE
Is that this is not sustainable
For women
If we push ourselves to operate like this
Chances are
We’ll get sick, injured or burn ourselves out
WHY?
Because our bodies aren’t designed to move like this
Biologically
Or Physiologically
In the first few weeks of the hormonal cycle
We are designed to have more every more drive more motivation and even more confidence
(Aka the follicular phase)
But in the following 2 weeks
(Aka the luteal phase)
Our bodies literally need to slow down
And yes while they still need to move
It shouldn't be anything hard, fast or intense
Because we are more sensitive to stress in this phase
So if we try push ourselves hard here
WE WILL THROW OURSELVES OF BALANCE
Off centre
Out of equilibrium
There is no question
We need to move in sync with our cycles
Because our cycle literally dictates how much energy we have to move
So - do you know what the best form of movement is that works no matter what time of your cycle you’re in (or if you’re pregnant)?
And when to do it?
These 5 mini masterclass videos break down the simplest steps on how to reduce stress, create balance in your day and break down the best form of movement that doesn’t require any costly gym membership or payment fees)
