What kind of anxiety do you have?
Jun 07, 2025
DO YOU HAVE GENUINE ANXIETY OR FALSE ANXIETY?
I had both.
Genuine anxiety (if you didn’t know) refers to a normal emotional response to stress or perceived threat.
What was I genuinely anxious about?
My finances - which were always up and down
My job - which was unstable and chaotic
My health - because I was always dealing with something - headaches, back pain, belly pain, jaw pain, unwell, exhausted, just straight up living in struggle town
My anxiety levels were constantly 10/10
Unrelenting
Constant
Never ending
BUT
What I didn’t realise
Was that all the little things I did every day
All my little habits
Were causing me more unnecessary stress and anxiety
WHAT IS FALSE ANXIETY EXACTLY?
False anxiety comes from poor lifestyle choices and habits that activate the bodies stress response unnecessarily fuelling feelings of anxiety that are-not-real
Don't get me wrong, false anxiety still feels very real.
What kind of habits cause false anxiety?
- Drinking coffee before breakfast (or drinking coffee in excess)
- Doom scrolling before bed and on waking
- Doing high intensity exercise at the wrong time in my cycle
- Anxiously binging on junk food
(To name just a few)
And what happened when I changed these habits?
When I swapped them out for healthy calming habits?
My anxiety dropped from a 10/10
To a 3/10
And while still had things to be genuinely anxious about
I wasn’t constantly on edge, wound up, stressed out and overwhelmed
I COULD THINK SO MUCH CLEARER
So I could make better decisions about my finances
(including stopping anxiously buying clothes online at 9pm on a Saturday night - win win)
I COULD BE MORE PRESENT
So I found it easier to avoid anxious eating and instead ate meals that were balanced and whole
(and this helps keep the mind and body balanced - another win)
I COULD SLEEP EASIER
So I would wake up feeling calmer, more refreshed and more energised
(which helped me start my day off right)
So the question is:
Do you have constant fear-based thoughts racing around your head?
Do you find it hard to fall asleep and stay asleep?
Do you feel constantly stressed out, overwhelmed or on edge all the time?
